Murchison & Cumming Welcomes New Senior Associate to Los Angeles Office

Murchison & Cumming, LLP is pleased to announce that Christy Gargalis has joined the Los Angeles office of Murchison & Cumming, LLP. She will be focusing her practice on Law & Motion and has 15 years of experience in civil litigation and appeals, with 10 of those years defending attorneys in high stakes legal malpractice actions. Over the course of her career she has honed her skills in a wide spectrum of fields from business to real estate and intellectual property litigation. Her clients appreciate her passion for research and writing which directed her into Law and Motion, where she found her niche. With her innate attention to detail, she sets forth the law in a clear and straightforward manner and works to keep clients from any unnecessary litigation and legal fees.

In one of her most recent cases, Ms. Gargalis successfully defended attorneys accused of aiding and abetting a $200 million Ponzi scheme. Her client served as general counsel to a person who defrauded investors and proceeded to flee the country; in turn, the client had a complaint filed against them for $20 million in damages alleging negligence and aiding and abetting. Ms. Gargalis was able to negotiate a greatly reduced settlement by challenging the entire action and defending each individual transaction to show there was no causation.

While attending Boston University, Ms. Gargalis realized the study of law would provide her with a career that would challenge her to continuously learn and increase her knowledge. This desire compelled her to attend law school at the University of San Diego School of Law where she graduated in the top of her class. She has never regretted one day of her decision to go into law.
