Murchison & Cumming Welcomes New Associate to Los Angeles Office
January 2, 2020
Murchison & Cumming is pleased to announce that Kimiko I. Elguea has joined the Los Angeles office as an Associate focusing her practice on wildland fire litigation. While attending law school, Kimiko's hard work and dedication landed her an internship in the legal department at a major utility in Southern California. While interning, she honed her legal skills and found her true calling litigating electrical and wildfire related matters. As an intern, she drafted and won a motion to contest a good faith settlement application.
Kimiko's journey to become a lawyer started in the eighth grade when she first read To Kill a Mockingbird. What fascinated her about the story was Atticus Finch's diction in his closing argument. Despite challenges she faced growing up, Kimiko credits her enthusiastic and hard-working spirit as the driving force in achieving her dream of becoming a lawyer. She never takes for granted the privilege of being an attorney. Kimiko is passionate about her career and is dedicated to working hard and learning all she can as she progresses in the legal field.
Kimiko attended Occidental College where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and Comparative Literary Studies and her Master of Arts in Teaching. She continued onto Loyola Law School where she was on the Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review and received first honors in Legal Writing and Research. In 2018, she received the Judge Barry Russell Award for Excellence in Federal Practice.
