Murchison & Cumming Welcomes New Associate to Las Vegas Office
December 1, 2021
Murchison & Cumming is pleased to announce that Manuel R. Gurule has joined the Las Vegas office as an Associate focusing his practice on general civil litigation. Manny has extensive work experience that taught him to sustain himself in high-powered environments. Prior to his educational pursuits, he joined the Air Force. When he was 20, he was deployed to Iraq as a part of the security forces to protect U.S. military troops. His unit was tasked with a counter-insurgency mission as a quick reaction force, covering the American base. Manny and his team patrolled nearby towns to assist the locals with medical supplies, local irrigation for farms, and any additional support. After four years in the Air Force, Manny joined the Army National Guard as a paralegal.
During his time in the military, Manny became interested in studying law through observing how a set of laws such as the law of armed conflict are still upheld in a place as chaotic as a war zone. His military experience prepared him for team leadership, dedication, and the integrity to exercise accountability and honesty especially when others are depending on you to do so.
After obtaining his B.A. in philosophy at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Manny worked as a substitute teacher, primarily for children in special education. Before applying to law school, he worked as an insurance agent, giving him another perspective and insight into civil litigation defense. While earning his J.D. at UNLV, Boyd School of Law, Manny was a Senior Staffer for the Nevada Law Journal and completed an externship for Judge Gloria Navarro of the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada in 2019.
