Murchison & Cumming senior partner Jean M. Lawler, has been elected president-elect of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel. In July 2004 she will become president of the FDCC, the first woman to hold the position. Lawler is chairwoman of Murchison's Insurance Law and Risk Management practice group, handling complex insurance and bad faith litigation and insurance coverage matters.

Murchison's managing partner, Friedrich W. Seitz, has been appointed chair of the products liability section of the FDCC. Seitz will be responsible for reviewing proposed legislation and coordinating presentations and programs designed to educate attorneys and claims professionals. As chairman of Murchison's product liability practice group, he has tried more than 100 jury trials, mostly involving product liability.
