Insurance Roundtable: Claims Investigations - Avoiding Pitfalls and Bad FaithJune 2, 2015 The manner in which an insurer investigates the facts and circumstances surrounding a claim can often make the difference between a claims decision that will hold up in court versus one that might expose the company to a bad faith claim. In this webinar, we will discuss the obligations that both the insurer and the policyholder owe during a coverage investigation. In addition, we will address the “best practices” for conducting investigations once a coverage suit is filed. Lastly, the speakers will discuss the bad faith implications attendant to claims investigations and what defenses might be available. Insurance Roundtables are intended to be interactive and participatory roundtables, on topics of interest to the Insurance Industry, led by the partners of the firm's Insurance Law practice group: Jean M. Lawler, Bryan M. Weiss, and Malena Dobal. Please feel free to contact Ms. Lawler or Mr. Weiss if you have any questions or would like to arrange for a private educational program for your company. Participation by webinar, phone and in-person is offered.
