The firm's expertise in International Law covers a wide range of legal issues, including the Hague Convention on service of process, discovery and international safety standards, just to name a few. The firm has defended European and Asian product manufacturers for many years in product liability and environmental litigation and our insurance attorneys represent domestic and international insurers, including Bermuda-based and London market insurers and syndicates, in connection with domestic and international claims and litigation. We have also represented the interests of Mexican and Canadian insurers and corporations in US based litigation.
We have also represented European and Asian clients in corporate matters ranging from incorporation to contractual and general business matters. Through the team project approach in handling client matters, lawyers of this group have met client needs on questions raised by international employee transfers, labor and management issues for international corporations, cross-border investments and business ventures. The Group has also assisted banks in debt collection, international insolvency proceedings and related debtor and asset searches.
Our attorneys have lectured in Europe, Australia, Asia and Africa on a variety of topics, including those pertaining to product liability, environmental exposures, insurance law, business law and developments in the US legal system. Many of our attorneys are multi-lingual, fluent in German, French, Spanish, Korean, Chinese and other languages. In addition, the firm has a multi-lingual secretarial staff capable of preparing correspondence and documents in German and Spanish.
For more than two decades, the firm has sponsored a German legal trainee program, "Rechtsreferendare", to provide recent German law graduates with an opportunity to complete part of their required practical law training in the United States.
